Hilliards Chocolates Opens New Store in West Newton

Hilliards Chocolates, one of New England’s most beloved family-run chocolatiers, opened a new retail location at 1 Chestnut Street in West Newton. Bringing its sweet traditions back to Newton, the new 2,400-square-foot store will feature Hilliards handcrafted chocolates and confections along with a classic, seasonal ice cream parlor.

The expansion marks a meaningful homecoming for Hilliards, which operated in Newton for several decades beginning as early as 1928.. With deep family ties to the community, founders Perley and Jesse were Newton Highland residents, the return represents both a continuation and a celebration of the brand’s century-long legacy.

“Opening in Newton feels like coming home,” said Maegan McCarthy Dec, President and great-granddaughter of the original founders of Hilliards Chocolates. “This community was an important part of our company’s early growth, and we’re thrilled to bring back a piece of that history—now with our full product line, including small-batch ice cream made in our Easton candy kitchen.”

The Newton location will join the company’s three existing stores in North Easton, Norwell, and Mansfield, and follows a milestone year in which Hilliards celebrated its 100th anniversary.
