Boston Bowl Introduces "Xperience" Bowling
Landmark Entertainment Center Completes $650K Renovation
December 4, 2014
Boston Bowl, a landmark entertainment destination for generations, has completed a $650,000 renovation. The extensive makeover has created an all-new “Xperience,” a 3,000-square-foot private space for boutique bowling offering vibrant contemporary décor, six ten-pin bowling lanes with state-of-the-art features, integrated audio-visual technology, a full bar, comfortable lounge seating, and custom catering.
“Founded in 1959, Boston Bowl has a long legacy of being a gathering spot for city residents and visitors of all ages to socialize and have fun,” said Joe Sammartino, vice president of Phillips Family Hospitality. “Over the years, we’ve prided ourselves in keeping the facility updated and current with entertainment trends.”
“We’ve been operating with a beer and wine license, but are thrilled to now have a full liquor license for the entire facility as a result of Boston Mayor Marty Walsh’s efforts to make all alcohol licenses available for applicants in Dorchester, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan and Roxbury,” explained Phil Strazzula, president of Boston Bowl. “Having a full bar enables us to be more successful when competing with private event facilities in downtown Boston. We look forward to welcoming social and corporate groups to our new venue and bringing business into this neighborhood.”
Strazzula went on to explain that the Boston Bowl renovation was part of a larger improvement plan for the Phillips Family Hospitality dining, entertainment, and lodging complex located on a 10-acre stretch along Morrissey Boulevard just 3.5 miles south of Boston. The family-owned and operated businesses include Boston Bowl, The Ramada Inn Boston, The Comfort Inn Boston, Phillips Candy House, Freeport Tavern, and Phillips Banquet and Meeting Facility. Over the past year, The Comfort Inn Boston has undergone an $850,000 revitalization.
Boston Bowl is a 50,000-square-foot family fun center featuring 30 ten-pin and 14 candlepin lanes with state-of-the-art bowling technology; tournament-sized billiards tables; and over 80 interactive electronic and prize games. Boston Bowl hosts public bowling, professional and amateur leagues, Cosmic Bowling for kids as well as adults, and “Xperience” a private room accommodating up to 75 for social gatherings and corporate team building events, parties, fundraisers, and the like. Boston Bowl’s Deadwood Cafe and Brewery brews fresh beer on the premises and offers a varied menu of pizza, wings, burgers, ribs, and more.
