Founded in 1925, this four generation, family-owned chocolate company with two retail locations and an ecommerce website selected CM Communications to update their brand image and develop integrated marketing strategies to drive sales. Initial projects included extensive competitive research, a logo refresh and the complete redesign of the company’s product packaging, catalog, print advertising and website – including the creation of the new tagline “Boston’s Oldest Chocolatier.”

Over an ongoing eight-year client /agency partnership, CM was instrumental in designing and executing multichannel marketing programs and developing new products and merchandizing strategies to reach new audiences and position Phillips among the top artisan chocolate retailers in the country. PR efforts yielded multiple, consecutive placements in local, regional and national media including People Magazine, The Today Show, all local network TV affiliates, Boston Magazine, The Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Parade Magazine and many others. In 2015, CM expanded Phillips’ national and international visibility exponentially by landing their best-selling chocolate turtles on “Oprah’s List of Favorite Things” – gold standard media coverage that, in turn, sparked feature stories in several major national digital and print outlets. The tremendous positive impact on Phillips’ revenue, as a direct result of this media blitzkrieg, proved to be the company's tipping point!
